About the Organization
The American Academy of Optometry is a national organization committed to maintaining and furthering optometry by promoting lifelong learning through exceptional continuing education and access to the most current vision science research. The Academy hosts an Annual Meeting consisting of nearly 300 hours of lectures, poster presentations, workshops and more! To learn more, please visit the upcoming events page of this website.
UMSL's AAO Student Chapter was founded in Spring of 2011 by class of 2014 members Jenna Nelson and Ashley Gezella. Our mission is to increase awareness of the benefits of Fellowship in the AAO and encourage students to increase their knowledge through attending the Annual Meeting. Throughout the years, the AAO Student Chapter hosts speakers and events promoting the Academy. We also host many fundraisers to support these events as well as a Travel Grant program for students wishing to attend the Annual Meeting.
